Event: Emergency Repairs, Part Two
The tablets finally finish their download in the early afternoon. The tablet beeps and the program opens immediately to a network that looks very much like their normal one, albeit empty of conversation. Then, a voice and a face--it's one some may recognize as that of Robert Miller. "Let's make things appear in a way you'll understand, shall we?" For those outside, this seems to do nothing. For those down in the depths, however, they will find themselves compelled to enter the normal room if they weren't already there. The bizarre, incomprehensible room begins to shift and go dark. Similarly, it seems as if the others down with them are vanishing as well--but only certain people are vanishing, depending on who you are. Everyone sees different people disappearing, until only a small group remains. Finally the tablets of those outside display the room in the depths and the people in it. Some of the people in it. Everyone who signed up has been split into groups, and only group members will be able to see each other. Each group is connected to one of the areas in the town, and those still in town may only interact with and see members of their representative group. The groups are as follows: Residential Zone One Angel ( ![]() Quark ( ![]() Tavros Nitram ( ![]() Residential Zone Two Fiona ( ![]() Charlie ( ![]() Zach Spencer ( ![]() Ice Tunnels John Watson ( ![]() Frisk ( ![]() Haurchefant Greystone ( ![]() Downtown Rhys ( ![]() Enoch ( ![]() Rydia ( ![]() Cecil Palmer ( ![]() Robert begins to speak again. "The administrator is no longer in control--at least for this little stretch of time. I'll explain what she meant before: if you don't do repairs here quickly, people outside will begin to die. But trying to repair the whole thing all at once would be pretty difficult, so having groups is much easier. You're each responsible for part of the town. Your efforts will hinder the other groups--not only because people work better when they're competing but because I find it's much more efficient to give resources based on skill level. Enter the other room whenever you're ready, and don't worry--you can talk to the people you're responsible for over the network. Behave! They can see you." The video stops. This network is the only one available for the duration of the event, and so no one in a different group or area may communicate with each other. There is no option for private messaging or filtering here. Each group will be tasked with doing the repairs, but it seems as if Robert has very kindly rearranged things in a way that can be understood. Entering the repair room, it seems the angles have straightened out and the colors have quieted. It seems very small, in fact. There's a door, locked, and holes in the wall, large enough for the arms (or legs, if one is so inclined and so flexible) of each group member. The instruction is simple: "Reach into the holes for identification. All group members must participate." Simple, right? But that surely isn't everything you have to do... As the event progresses, groups will be presented with various tasks that they must complete. Some will be simple, and some will be difficult. Things start out at even difficulty, but the more any one group falls behind, the more difficult things will be, and the less they will have available to work with. Those outside may help their group via communication over the network, but they cannot see or interact with any other group. Interactions between the group underground will take place in the log post. There will be an OOC thread for group communication and for group answers, one per group number. Most of the time the problems posed will be ones that only need to be played out to solve, although sometimes there will be specific correct answers that must be presented. There will also be a progressing symptom list for those stuck in buildings above ground. It seems like Robert wasn't lying about that, either. Good luck. |

Anomalies, looking like white, featureless humanoids, stand on the far ends of the room. They have no eyes, no noses, no mouths, but they do have ears--so they must be able to hear. There are eight of them, and they wander at random through the room, charging at any sound they hear. The door is on the opposite end of the room.
Please let us know how your characters will get through this room to the other side to proceed.

The group is taking off their shoes and trying to be silent while they sneak further as silently as possible and passing from the other side of the room.

The next room is another vote. Images of the other groups are shown--simple head shots of everyone in them. The question is as follows: "Which of the groups do you want to fail? At least half of the group must explain their reasoning." Please reply with what your group decides! At least two of them must announce out loud why they want the group they chose to fail, and both must provide different reasons. The explanation has to make sense--if it doesn't, they will be told to explain more logically.

They both explain that they won't vote for groups with kids but, specifically:
- Rydia insn't picking children because they shouldn't be forced to deal the idea that their failure eventually killed so many people. It can be traumatic for an adult, she's praying that children will be spared that.
- Rhys will state he's not voting for Angel, period.
Rydia will add vocally that it's bull***t that they're forced to pick a group for failure when they're supposedl cooperating to fix things.

TASK ONE: one bar
TASK TWO: three bars (one for fourth to completion, two for sacrificing unnecessarily)
TASK THREE: one bar
TASK FOUR: one bar
TOTAL: six bars
They're right about even with their quota for the day. Good job!
No more tasks will be assigned until tomorrow (OOCly).

After this, the next door opens. The room is pitch black, with eleven points of light like broken electrical circuits. They can't see it, but those watching over the network can see all the walls separating the group from the broken circuits. There is a table with new circuits beside the door, but everyone can only take one, and if new circuits are brought too close to other new circuits, they'll break. Luckily, there are extras on the table. Robert's voice speaks up: "Repair the circuits". They must rely on the eyes outside to lead them through the maze. They have to rely on their own ingenuity and items at hand to take the old circuits off without hurting themselves with the electricity surging through.
This is the only room of the day. You have all day to come up with a plan/begin to play it out, though you only need to present us with your plan of attack and who outside will be helping you. We'll let you know your results at the end of the day!
final edit, I promise
Two people above ground will be coordinating the different teams to make sure they don't get too close to one another. Then the below ground people will pair up with an above ground person to guide them:
Cecil and Zack
Beckett and Rhys
Rydia and Zell
Enoch and Jim
As there are 11 circuits, they will do 2 each, and then the first 3 to complete theirs will do an extra 1 each to make up the full 11.
EDIT TO ADD: Rydia also has a shower curtain, rain boots, and various clothes used for insulation. Enoch has a cloak he will wrap around his hands if the first attempt hurts him. There are also multiple people standing by to take over from each overground guider/the coordinators so that breaks can be taken and fresh eyes can help the puzzle, but it will be kept organised so there are never like six people yelling instructions at one person. Finally, if Kunsel's map app is working, he will be using that to assist too by sketching out the map on the app and screen capturing it to share.

Questions!
Also, how much time has ICly passed so far? Are we still on day 127, or is it day 128?
no subject
2) The time that's passed matches the time of day on the calendar, so it's morning 128 now.
Another quick question!

Question 2 - January 18th (day 128)!
Question 3 - Everyone, because they're all feeding info the the admin whether they like it or not.
Question 4 - The eye is symbolic of the admin - always watching and knowing what everyone is doing. It's also been used as the symbol for Kesara's anomaly detection program.
Question 5 - NIMA was developed (or found), with the unforeseen consequence of MN poisoning. There was also a plague - whether it was connected to MN poisoning or not, the medical staff had trouble handling it and that may have led to the protests that occurred. The admin eventually had to pull the plug on everyone, possibly out of mercy.

"Between these two groups, if one has to fail, which would you rather fail?"
They have to choose first between residential zone one and residential zone two, second between residential zone one and the ice tunnels, and third between residential zone two and the ice tunnels.

1: Residential Zone Two
2: Ice Tunnels (if it makes any difference/gets a reaction from Robert, Enoch refused to participate in team discussion on this one)
3: Residential Zone Two
