Mod Announcement: Exposure Effects Edit and Squicks Page

Hey, everyone! A couple of changes today: the exposure effects page has been edited to include changes to making dealing with them easier. We've added a second physical effect, so even without having the beacon on and never removing any effects, a character could go a year before ever having to take a mental effect. The comment requirements for bonus activity have been lowered to ten, twenty, and thirty, and we've added an important character moment option. This ranges from simply making friends to unlocking areas and doing things of plot relevance. It's detailed on the page itself. We've also added an option to submit activity/character moments whenever you want and to "bank" exposure effect removals, allowing you to collect some for later use. Finally, you can use multiple lesser levels to add up to a higher level, as detailed on the exposure effects page.

Secondly, we have a squicks page. This is the page for you to submit anything you want to either be warned about or completely avoid playing to us. Comments are screened by default, but if you'd like, we can unscreen them so other people will be able to see them and warn for the situation in their own posts as well.

A potentially silly question: Is the exposure effect bank something we should start using now or is this going to go into official effect for December activity?

You can start using it now! For anyone who apped in before November, you could use November activity to remove the effect left over from the event. For our November appers, you can bank a level one now if you have the ability to neutralize the December effect.

How many bonus activity points can we bank and do they have an expiration?

There's no upper limit, just remember you can only use threads once (and of course you can't use a thread for bonus AC that you've used for regular AC). There's no expiration for the bank except for however long you're in the game.

So, I'm confused on a lot of points regarding exposure effects.

Steve has a beacon on. Do the first effects start kicking in after I've been here two months, and then after that every four months? Or, after one month (the beginning of the second month), and after that every four months? Or does it not kick in until I've been here four months? (I think it's the second one?)

If, when the effects are meant to kick in, I'm meeting the 10 comments extra requirement... does that mean Steve never feels the effects at all? (Am I... supposed to be reporting my activity now to "bank" against level one effects in December?)

You won't have to worry about effects at all until February's activity check--months are counted based on activity check periods. It's possible for Steve to never feel the effects at all if you don't want him to, yes. While you won't have to worry about December, you can start reporting activity now to bank against level one effects in February.
