Event: Noisy Black; Part Four

NOISY BLACK
Another night of confusion for the sinners. They don't know it, but their last day is fast approaching. The converts can feel it, can know it in their bones that soon enough it will be time to release the converts. It isn't a good feeling, though; in their more lucid state, there's something very ominous about that certainty. Sinners Again all sinners are fed by the converts overnight. The crying girl is gone, though; instead, there's the sound of constant static that the converts cannot hear but assure you--when they're brainwashed enough--is a very good sign. There's an intense amount of lethargy pressing down on the sinners, and at this point the confusion has extended to the point that it's difficult at times to be certain if your body wasn't always like this, if you weren't always in this cell, if this isn't where you belong. Talking to others helps--even the converts, in certain circumstances... Converted Feeding the sinners, not letting them run around free outside of their cells, and not touching the top floor or trap door are all the brainwashing can permanently keep you from doing at this point. You may be coming across as a bit erratic to the sinners: sometimes, the brainwashing stays your tongue or makes you speak honeyed words of the conversion process, but sometimes you're a wreck of confused but more true statements. You can't quite manage a calm, ordered conversation with the sinners, but it's clear things are starting to fall apart for you. Of course, it's also clear that this won't last much longer. You must think of a way to get the sinners out. You can feel tomorrow night will be the last night. Before then, you must come up with a way to get the sinners out. Test the limits of your brainwashing carefully. Outsiders There's another message from @andromeda this evening: I have changed the origin point of the trap doors. I have reopened communications. You must convince @ADMIN to reboot the system and open the origin point trap door. You must convince @ADMIN there is an emergency. If you don't, they won't be able to get out no matter what. Looks like this part is up to you. Converted who are exploring or testing their brainwashing may use this comment for information. He's going to try to see if the cupboards and drawers have any handles/knobs. He will use a butter knife to remove the screws on them if they can.

He can do this! They're knobs rather than handles, in case that somehow becomes relevant.

I'm resisting making a pun here.

He'll gank two if them then. Would he be able to take sheets from beds and rip them up? He wants to braid them together to make a rope to tie to the end of the knobs.

He can take sheets, but he can't rip them up.

He will tie the knobs to the corners and twist them/tie a few together.

He will first try to use it to hook on the trap door if there is a latch or anything.

If it's sealed or if the brainwashing will prevent him, he will turn his focus to where the Sinners are. When the elevator opens, he will throw the end with the weights on it to a close cell. Would he be able to fight brainwashing if he stays on the elevator?
Could a sinner place their tablet in the end of the sheet they can reach and would he be able to take it with him to another floor?

There isn't a latch, sadly, though he wouldn't be able to get close enough to the trap door to touch it. He could fight the brainwashing if he stays on the elevator. A tablet could be put on the sheet, but he would be under incredible pressure to return it to the sinner--he might be able to take it somewhere, but he wouldn't be able to keep it for very long.

Could another convert take it from him to help stave off the pressure? Like if they play hot potato with it.

Also would it help if the Sinner gives permission or say it's a gift?

1) That would only lead to two people feeling immense pressure to return it.

2) No.

I have permission to snag Billy's tablet through this. He will take the tablet to another floor from their dorms. How hard will it be for him to post on the network with the pressure? He can be pretty narrow minded with his determination, so would that at all help in the situation?

The tablet would have to already be on and he would be posting from Billy's account. It can't be a long message.

New line of exploration. Is there an emergency hatch on the top of the elevator?

No.

Is there a way to open the elevators doors on a floor when the elevator is down on another floor?

Watson is trying to get it in Vanitas' head that it'll benefit them to take someone down to the operation room.

Vanintas is going to try to convince himself/the brainwashing that it'll serve the prophet if they stabilize the Sinners and try to keep them alive. A few of them not being in a good state at all or talking about ending themselves. Would that work? Or would they have to announce long live the prophet or play at being loyal to the cause?

That would work.

Test 1: Enoch and a much lighter person (say, Kid or Quark; for the example I will be assuming Kid but it may be Quark or someone else if Kid's player declines) will take the operating table into the elevator. Kid (or whoever) will climb onto it while the elevator takes them to the sinner floor, where Enoch will give them a running start push the moment the doors open - the hope is they reach a sinner's cell to unlock it before any brainwashing can take hold. (They do not realize the restrictions are crumbling at this point in the night)

Test 1.5: Realizing the brainwashing is breaking up even on the sinner floor, Enoch will attempt to bring some food and drink from the convert kitchen down to the sinners who are able to eat.

Test 2: Knowing he cannot let a sinner out to roam free, Enoch will approach one of the sinners who is both mobile and sighted (Rhys, Castiel, Mycroft, or Cat), and see if he can escort them off the floor, not allow them to wander off, to a place with fewer brainwashing restrictions.

Test 3: In the elevator, Enoch will throw himself at all the buttons, hopefully hitting the one for the top floor along with everything else he hits. Assuming he waits and has no real desire to get off on another floor, is he able to ride the elevator up to the top this way even if he can't get off it there? (He's not necessarily alone for this, I just haven't asked for volunteers to accompany him yet)

1) They can do this. They can actually bring the operating table onto the elevator and the sinner floor without doing all that, so they might look a little silly. They can open the cell but they wouldn't be able to just let the sinner out.

1.5) That's okay, especially since it's just taking care of the sinners. That aligns pretty well with what brainwashing remains.

2) Maybe. If he's just escorting them somewhere without some reason, he wouldn't be able to manage it. He'd be able to get them as far as the elevator, but he would put them back beforehand.

3) By smashing himself hilariously against the elevator buttons, he is able to hit the top floor. It takes a very long time to actually reach the top floor, given how he managed to hit the button, and he can't get off, but it's clear that the top floor is an office--it was probably the CEO's or similar in the past, but now there is a very large eye symbol on the wall behind the desk. It looks like a computer is running here.

Can the reason be "have them press the top floor button I have no innate desire to press" and also maybe "go investigate the computer"?

But really the goal is tablet footage, can he bring a sinner with him with their tablet on?

That reason wouldn't work--it would have to be something that the brainwashing would accept.

He could get tablet footage that way, though. He wouldn't let the sinner go out onto the floor, though.

We have a plan \o/

After the admin's conversations and once Enoch is free, a message will be sent to Davesprite via Eyes asking the Sinners to act like they will end themselves before the night is over.

The Converts who will be participating will convince themselves that they need to stabilize the Sinners by taking them down to the operating room.

They will be trying this first with one Sinner. Enoch will be bringing Rhys down to the operating room where Quark will be waiting. Quark will be making sure Rhys doesn't get strapped down.

While distraction is happening, Rhys will try the trapdoor to see if it will open.

This will work. All of the converts will have to work together to get the sinners out: they have between the evening when the trap door is open and the system is rebooting and midnight, when whatever happens in the end will happen.

Results will be shown in the event end post.

For characterization purposes: would Enoch even retain the desire to strap Rhys to any tables once he leaves the sinner floor? Would it be a thing he can resist, if so (to help Quark out a little)? I mean the end result is the same either way but it helps to know RP-wise.

He'd have a desire to, but he (and other converts helping out) can resist this urge.
