Event: No Light, No Light; Part One
| On the morning of day 242, you begin to turn into a monster. Well, not all of you, and not suddenly. Those of you who had your light stolen and those of you who once turned into a monster, those are the ones who are undergoing the slow change. And it is slow: no one will fully become a monster, but over the course of the day various things will change. Maybe their jaws will extend and warp, maybe claws will grow and grow and tear through their hard-earned gloves, maybe they'll slowly start thinking of those around them differently... Those who were monsters before are turning into the same sorts of monsters again, while those who had their light stolen get to experience this new: it may not be only associated with their fears, now. They can be a monster like that, but they may also be something related to the worst parts of themselves--or the worst parts of their friends. It's a frightening and inevitable march toward a loss of control, and you can feel yourself losing your grip on who you are the more you transform. As for those who still had their light, those who didn't become monsters, for now it seems they get off easy. There's only the vague sound of whirring, like an electronic saw far in the distance. It's probably nothing to worry about. As before, if your character is turning into a monster for the first time, you can either create it yourself or request that a moderator create your monster. |

MONSTER CREATION
this is disjointed af and i'm sorry
What should we take into account?
Fears
- Clowns
- Failure
- Getting his friends/people he cares about killed
- Death/being culled/people finding out he's a mutant and shunning him/ANY OTHER NEGATIVE REPERCUSSIONS, WHICH IS WHY DEATH IS ON THIS LIST BUT LIKE. Otherwise also generally death? goddammit I tried to make this somewhat orderly and it exploded
- Being alone/unwanted, also tangentially related to the above, god I don't even know he is scared of many things to do with these subjects I'm just
I suppose you could say that what Karkat fears ultimately has to do with being unseen or unheard, metaphorically as well as literally, but being seen and heard also terrifies him if it's for the wrong reasons (see also mutant, fear of failure). Also he's an enormous fucking sap who loves his friends and hates seeing them in pain/dying (unless they've significantly betrayed him) and then there's that thing where a psychotic clown hunted/honked at him through darkened corridors and ultimately murdered him in an entirely different setting and whatnot and yeah.
Associations
- Crabs???
- Blood? his blood is a Thing AND ON THAT NOTE RED, HE IS RED, RED IS A THING, BRIGHT FUCKING RED LIKE FF0000 HOLY SHIT THAT IS SOEM CRIMSON UP IN THIS BITCH
- Idk he's angry and shouts a lot and has sickles and made a universe if I knew what I wanted I wouldn't be here.
Anything else: No squick whatsits but I'm terrible and was hoping signature Homestuck blanky white ghost eyes might somehow be a thing he gets because a lot of his anxieties to do with home at the moment have to do with him being from [S] Game Over and therefore a doomed timeline version of himself? I'M JUST MAKING THIS MORE COMPLICATED BY TYPING SO MUCH AND I'M SORRY

Karkat hallucinates the presence of his friends and less-than-friends from home, alive and dead in various ways. Usually dead. He hallucinates his friends here dead and dying, as well, in a thousand different ways.

At night, when he's sluggish, he tends to lose track of people more easily and tends to assume they have left him behind. He'll react with a great deal of agitation, which may manifest as sadness or anger. It's more likely to be anger the further along the transformation is.
