Event: Noisy Black; Part Two
| Some of those brought to this place may be worried about torture, but as day turns into night, they'll see it's nothing so disturbing as that: no, instead, the converted don the cloaks of the followers of the prophet and perform medical therapy on the sinners to teach them the error of their ways. That means surgery, of course. Sinners Sinners will be gathered up one by one over the course of the night by their assigned converted, which should be listed in your PM. They will find themselves unable to really fight back against the converted: oh, they can kick and scream a bit, but their bodies feel sluggish and weak and they don't do any real damage even to the smallest among the ranks of the converted. After each surgery, the sinners are cleaned up (unless otherwise noted in your PM) and changed from their hospital gown to a black cloak. It's simpler than the cloaks the converted wear and lacks a hood. They will be left to themselves for the rest of the night, but the next day, it's possible they'll receive visitors... The converted may stop by, and they have the sinners' tablets. Get on their good side, and maybe you'll be able to communicate with someone outside of this place. Converted During the night, all converted will don long hooded cloaks and go down three flights to the cells where the sinners are held. They may speak with the sinners, but only while doing what they came for: gathering up their assigned surgical patient and taking them down, down, down to the basement where a crude operating room awaits. There, they will perform the surgery. They will then take the patient back to their cell, gather up their second patient, and repeat the process. During the night, it's fine. But then night dies away and morning comes--and, well, you're a bit more yourself, like you were before nightfall. You remember what you did. Maybe you can still feel the warmth of their insides on your hands. During the day, you could even go out and visit the sinners--their tablets are on a table in the converted floor, so you could even bring it to them! But as soon as you leave the room you become a follower again, and the only way you'll give up a tablet is if whoever the tablet belongs to performs some act of self-betrayal to who they were before they became new potential acolytes, if you judge them to honor the prophet enough, or--well, maybe there's something in you that remembers them enough. If your CR is close enough to one of the sinners, or if you and a sinner can build a rapport, you may give them their tablet and not quite understand why. The mingle log for this portion of the event is here. The surgery log is here; please use and heed warnings. But what of everyone else? Well, maybe you remember that video feed Quark found--it's available now, and it provides a view of the surgery room. Enjoy. |

2: They might be asked what the cult of the Prophet is all about - what's its ideological center, what are its core concepts, etc. How would they answer questions like this?
3: ...my character is already wearing a cloak in place of a shirt, does follower!Enoch just remove what he's got on or put on the follower cloak over his own like an oblivious idiot?
Clearly this is important.no subject
2) They would answer with things like the prophet is the one who saw when we did not, the prophet tests us and we must rise to the occasion, and all who can be converted must be converted.
3) He'll put it on over his other cloak to double cloak up.
no subject
...Please tell me the follower cloaks are floor-length too so it's total overkill on the dramatic cloak thing

Re: QUESTIONS
For converts visiting sinners - will only the convert who performed the surgery have access to give the sinners back their tablets, or could it be any of the converts?

cw: suicide
And just because it may well come up as a consideration, can sinners further injure themselves to induce death? Is there anything preventing them from doing that?
no subject
2) They will be unable to do that. It's like something in their brains is stopping them.

also is it fair to let them feel that their "anomalies" still being nullified is a test of faith?

1. Do the convert cloaks have Prophet eyes on them?
2. Do the sinner cloaks have Prophet eyes on them?

The thing is, House is basically hellbent on goading Kid. He's trying to get Kid to lose his cool, but I know that's not a thing that could happen. I've kind of played it off as Kid occasionally snapping at him, but I wanted to make sure it was okay since House keeps doing it.
I know that there's no desire to hurt the sinners, but that's basically Kid's death price--that he really feels that if he can't have symmetry, nothing is the best order he can arrange. And House is really trying his patience... Thus far I've assumed that the brainwashing/mind control/whatever-you-call-it is keeping him compelled to Not Lose It, but is there a point at which that might not happen?
