No Such Thing

As the day wears on, the ringing is getting worse. Louder, to the point it's starting to obstruct hearing. You'll have to ask people to repeat themselves fairly often, even if they're speaking at a normal volume. The tablets are working again, a little--they flicker on and off, providing occasional, unstable access to the network. The tablets are running so low on power that only text is available, and viewing or listening to audio/video posts is a dicey prospect. Opening any application besides the network drains too much power; the tablet shuts off immediately. For those who had access on infected tablets, Shadownet is still unavailable to you. More worrisome is what you hear in the ringing in your ears. It's a voice, male. At first, it's too low to hear, but as the ringing gets worse the voice gets louder, and then you know who it is: It's Robert Miller. "--ing to--orrow--ay cal--or don't." It repeats over and over.

If a character assumes this is gonna be another brainwashing deal and tried to preempt it by suicide, does something stop that?

Yes. If a character attempts to kill themselves, the ringing will grow louder to the point they are incapable of doing anything. They will be dizzy and confused for an hour before they remember what they were trying to do. If they try again, the cycle repeats.

Similarly, if they try to get someone to murder them/someone tries to murder them just because that's what happens here, either the murderer will be subject to the dizzying ringing (if they're also infected) or the attempted-victim will either suddenly fight back to the absolute limits of what a human body is capable of (think situations where a mother lifts a car off her child) or run away, whichever is more efficient and likely to stop the situation.

This isn't to say murder is impossible, but it's more difficult than you might expect.

Can characters trap themselves in a lethal cycle via the dizziness, such as walking through the bunker’s entrance area multiple times as they try repeatedly to get out to die by exposure? Or will this be memorized to eventually prevent them from leaving their safe room at all?

They'll eventually be forced into a safe area and not allowed to leave.

Anything stop them from incapacitating or asking someone else to incapacitate them, or can they get themselves tied up without trouble?

They can get themselves tied up or otherwise incapacitated, but not somewhere that would kill them to stick around in (that would be interpreted as murder).

If someone fights back against assisted murdercide, how quickly do they regain their senses once they're "safe" again?

They'd return to their senses once they were safe--either the person who was trying to kill them is incapacitated in some manner or they've escaped the person completely.

1) No.

2) Not past the tinnitus. If they got someone not infected to check, it sounds like the spiders are still active somewhere, and there's the usual electronic hiss.

3) Anyone who is infected will find their tinnitus increases dramatically while they're in the building. Miller's voice increases to the following:

"I'm going to borrow you. Stay calm, or don't."

They're still working like normal, yes! Pointing the eye app at the infected characters reveals them slightly faded from view. Pointing any similar app (like Shelley's app) would have the same results. They're slightly transparent as viewed through the tablet with these applications.

Non-infected tablets can also still access Shadownet.

is it possible to take video with the eye app? specifically to record the semi-transparent people. Also if he pokes one while the eye app is on will he pass through them?

not that it'll do any good to the infected but whatever

The eye app can't record video directly, but he can record the tablet with his other camera and it will show up.

For those who have a brand from the Prophet because they were idiots who tempted fate and not-ghosts from the cult, is there any reaction if the Eye App is directed at the mark of the Prophet on that person? The person, in this case, being House, who is also infected.

Their prophet mark remains visible, so eventually it becomes a floating prophet mark.

Does this work on drawn-on, as well as carved-on Prophet marks? And taking this to the logical extreme because House and Will are nothing if not stupid, do the Prophet marks appear to be 3D? Like, if someone coated themselves in Prophet marks, would you be able to tell that they are a human-shaped thing if you lit them up?

It only works on the carved-on marks. Ones they draw won't work. The mark that is visible does appear to be 3D, though.
