Event: Shadows and Side Effects Info and Sign Ups
| On the morning of day 36, the lights in the hospital and the school turn on. By the middle of the day, the lights of a few of the houses have shone to life as well. And shadows move and work and play, mimicking the actions they may have taken in life. From afar, it's just another bizarre hallucination. You can watch the shadows move about, children running to attend classes that are no longer in session, adults interacting in their homes with devices that are no longer there. It's strange, but you've certainly seen worse by now. Draw too close, however, and the nearest one will walk right into you. Then you're not entirely you anymore... Characters who are about to reach certain buildings on day 36 will have the option to become possessed by the shadows of the past. There are two basic groups for this: the generic possessions of the school and the hospital, and the special possessions of the houses. There is a limit of eight generic possessions and five special possessions, with the possibility of a sixth being unlocked if conditions are met. To keep this fair, we will select those who are possessed and the kind of possession they receive via RNG. If you would like a chance to sign up, please reply to this comment. While possessed, characters will receive vague memories and definite motivations and feelings. These are often much stronger than the character's own motivations and feelings, although not always. They will tend to try to remain near to the location they were possessed, although not to the point of getting themselves killed overnight. All of this information will be openly available on the post for all to read. In addition to this, however, selected characters will receive a trigger via PM. This trigger can be nearly anything, from a word to a color to a certain action. In response to this trigger, the character will be instructed to behave and respond in a certain way. This will completely overwhelm anything else they were planning on doing, as well as their normal behavior, and the possessed character will not remember anything that happens while in this state. Trigger behavior may include things that could injure or kill your character or other characters, but this will not be the case for all possessions. To receive a generic possession, your character must be able to reach either building 30 or building 131. To receive a special possession, your character must be able to reach one of these buildings: building 2, building 26, building 100, building 101, or building 117. One more building may be unlocked if certain player conditions are met before sign ups end. Sign ups will end at 11PM EST on September 13. This goes on for two days. On the morning of day 38, all characters will, having at some point fallen asleep, awake to find themselves paralyzed with their eyes closed. They will feel an injection that may be familiar to some by now in one of their arms, and over the next fifteen minutes, the paralysis will fade. Usually, that would be all. But this time, there are a few side effects to come... |
