Event: Lavender's Blue; Part Two

LAVENDER'S BLUE
It happens in the evening of day 180, just after the doors lock shut for the night. The whole world seems to turn to water, the very air rippling and wobbling. You're overcome with dizziness. You don't quite pass out. Then the whole world seems to fall still. You're compelled to try the doors--they unlock. You're not cold. There's snow outside, but the flakes are stuck in mid-air, and you're not at all cold. It's impossible to tell if you're seeing things or not, but travel is quick this way. Impossibly quick, really: you can travel the length of the whole town available to you easily. Unfortunately, you can't seem to travel into undiscovered territory, nor can you open any doors to buildings that aren't already open. Indeed, once you open the door to the house you were staying in, it's stuck open.

To those with glowing eyes, there is a sense of unease and vague, prickling fear, but other than that nothing else changes. Those with the eyes of the prophet, however, are filled with a greater sense of purpose: they must kill those with glowing eyes. They have transgressed, they have sinned, and to save the town they must be eliminated.

For the duration of the event, those with prophet eyes will try to hunt and kill those with glowing eyes. The favored methods are crucifixion and/or disembowelment, but anything is fine in a pinch. Those with glowing eyes don't feel this hostility at all, and must run and hide or fight back until morning. While they can't close any doors to actual buildings, they can go into buildings and hide in things like closets, cupboards, and similar. Those with prophet eyes who have an attachment to someone with glowing eyes will be conflicted in regards to them: at first, this will manifest as simply trying to avoid them in favor of going after less controversial prey, but as the night goes on, the compulsion gets worse, and so people may find themselves fighting worse and worse urges to kill their friends--and maybe failing to fight that urge. A log for this event has been provided here.

Those who are killed, no matter which side, black out. This does not count as a death and you will not be moved from your previous location; instead, they will be comatose until late morning. For those who survive, as soon as lockdown is set to end, the whole world swirls again, they feel a sharp pinch on one of their limbs, and they find themselves back in the buildings they were in before the evening began, doors closed. They can leave in the early morning--though if they have unconscious companions, they may want to wait for them to wake up.

If you want, you can choose to have your character keep their glowing or prophet eyes through to the next event, which is connected to this one. You will be subject to a few strange effects in between the two events, some physical and some mental. This is completely optional! Please let us know here if you're having your character keep theirs!

How... natural, for lack of a better term, do these thoughts/compulsions feel? Do they seem to be coming from the character's own thoughts? (Sorry, I'm failing at wording here.) Does it seem more like "You should murder people!" or "I should murder people," if that makes sense?

So, regarding the glowing eyes. Some characters have eyes that naturally glow already. If the player chooses not to keep the prophet eyes/glowy event eyes after this part is over, allowing their character's eyes revert to their natural glow, would this effect be at all mistakable for the glowy event eyes?

Is it possible for prophet eyes to have the presence of mind to go after someone they know will probably kill them trying to defend themselves?

I was not around OOCly for the very end of the SPIRITUAL event and kinda...missed signing up my characters for scratching out or painting on. They were around for it.

Joker and Haurchefant were both erasing eyes.

Guybrush was not around yet but I'll say he is sympathetic to the Prophet, based on everything he's learned (it's not much so he is)

Is it cool to put that out there now and still take part in this event?

And if it is cool, Guybrush is in something of a unique position. He'll be viciously suffering cabin fever at this point, does that effect the Prophet influence and does wandering under the Prophet influence alleviate the cabin fever at all? (He will be moving on after the event regardless, I just wanna know how to play this out)

1. Can characters take items from buildings or from other characters during this event?

2. If a prophet-eyed character had, say, been an unwitting religious assassin in her previous life, might she feel at all compelled to follow the old rules she'd learned back home regarding ritualistic mutilation of the bodies of her victims?

3. Does the network work during this event?

While I know the characters aren't actually dying, will there be any signs left over from their fights or death? Blood, damaged belongings, etc? Or will they all be as normal?

Can people steal things from whoever they've murdered? For example, Sylar is low on weapons and will be trying to loot bodies for supplies. If this works, would those items disappear once the night is over?

Also, Sylar will be filming some of this with his tablet, trying to get shots of the weird eyes and people attacking other people. Would this record as normal video?

One more question! Is the choice to keep or get rid of the eyes for part 2 an IC choice or will it just automatically happen to the characters without their input?

How would prophet-ed characters react to each other? Like if one prophet-ed character saw another struggling would they be able to help them or would that be seen as fighting the compulsion too much?

Really how much communication between prophet-ed characters could be expected at all I guess.

If a character dies during the event, do their eyes retain the glow and/or sketchiness?

A further question! House is listening to the walls here with his stethoscope. What will he hear? The standard static? Or something else?

When characters, murdered or otherwise, are moved back to their original starting points at the end of the event, will they retain any bloodstains or marks of damage on their clothes (by damage I mean how clothes are noticeably mended post-morgue revival) or will they look completely untouched?

Hello. If someone altered something in a building, will it remain? For example, if someone painted a message in a building?

Ecks has kerosene, and Clint has suggested that they go burn some buildings down to flush out the sinners. If they do so, will they be successful in setting fires? Will the damage be undone in the morning, and will her kerosene supply be depleted, or will it be reset?

Late question! Do characters who were injured but not killed retain murdernight injuries after being returned?
rubikscomplex: (Default)

[personal profile] rubikscomplex 2016-11-27 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Do the filming distortions from the murder night remain?
2. If House were to use his Eye App on people who had the Prophet eyes, but no longer do, would their eyes glow?
3. What if he used it on someone who's retained their Prophet eyes?
