Event: Emergency Repairs, Part Two
The tablets finally finish their download in the early afternoon. The tablet beeps and the program opens immediately to a network that looks very much like their normal one, albeit empty of conversation. Then, a voice and a face--it's one some may recognize as that of Robert Miller. "Let's make things appear in a way you'll understand, shall we?" For those outside, this seems to do nothing. For those down in the depths, however, they will find themselves compelled to enter the normal room if they weren't already there. The bizarre, incomprehensible room begins to shift and go dark. Similarly, it seems as if the others down with them are vanishing as well--but only certain people are vanishing, depending on who you are. Everyone sees different people disappearing, until only a small group remains. Finally the tablets of those outside display the room in the depths and the people in it. Some of the people in it. Everyone who signed up has been split into groups, and only group members will be able to see each other. Each group is connected to one of the areas in the town, and those still in town may only interact with and see members of their representative group. The groups are as follows: Residential Zone One Angel ( ![]() Quark ( ![]() Tavros Nitram ( ![]() Residential Zone Two Fiona ( ![]() Charlie ( ![]() Zach Spencer ( ![]() Ice Tunnels John Watson ( ![]() Frisk ( ![]() Haurchefant Greystone ( ![]() Downtown Rhys ( ![]() Enoch ( ![]() Rydia ( ![]() Cecil Palmer ( ![]() Robert begins to speak again. "The administrator is no longer in control--at least for this little stretch of time. I'll explain what she meant before: if you don't do repairs here quickly, people outside will begin to die. But trying to repair the whole thing all at once would be pretty difficult, so having groups is much easier. You're each responsible for part of the town. Your efforts will hinder the other groups--not only because people work better when they're competing but because I find it's much more efficient to give resources based on skill level. Enter the other room whenever you're ready, and don't worry--you can talk to the people you're responsible for over the network. Behave! They can see you." The video stops. This network is the only one available for the duration of the event, and so no one in a different group or area may communicate with each other. There is no option for private messaging or filtering here. Each group will be tasked with doing the repairs, but it seems as if Robert has very kindly rearranged things in a way that can be understood. Entering the repair room, it seems the angles have straightened out and the colors have quieted. It seems very small, in fact. There's a door, locked, and holes in the wall, large enough for the arms (or legs, if one is so inclined and so flexible) of each group member. The instruction is simple: "Reach into the holes for identification. All group members must participate." Simple, right? But that surely isn't everything you have to do... As the event progresses, groups will be presented with various tasks that they must complete. Some will be simple, and some will be difficult. Things start out at even difficulty, but the more any one group falls behind, the more difficult things will be, and the less they will have available to work with. Those outside may help their group via communication over the network, but they cannot see or interact with any other group. Interactions between the group underground will take place in the log post. There will be an OOC thread for group communication and for group answers, one per group number. Most of the time the problems posed will be ones that only need to be played out to solve, although sometimes there will be specific correct answers that must be presented. There will also be a progressing symptom list for those stuck in buildings above ground. It seems like Robert wasn't lying about that, either. Good luck. |

After this, the next door opens. The room is pitch black, with nine points of light like broken electrical circuits. They can't see it, but those watching over the network can see all the walls separating the group from the broken circuits. There is a table with new circuits beside the door, but everyone can only take one, and if new circuits are brought too close to other new circuits, they'll break. Luckily, there are extras on the table. Robert's voice speaks up: "Repair the circuits". They must rely on the eyes outside to lead them through the maze. They have to rely on their own ingenuity and items at hand to take the old circuits off without hurting themselves with the electricity surging through.
This is the only room of the day. You have all day to come up with a plan/begin to play it out, though you only need to present us with your plan of attack and who outside will be helping you. We'll let you know your results at the end of the day!

For the circuit room, the following teams are set:
Alfie guiding Frisk
Steve guiding Haurchefant
Peggy guiding Watson
Haurchefant will remove his armor to avoid being accidentally electrocuted and set it near, but still inside the entrance to the new room. John has a full box of latex condoms that will be distributed among the group to cover one of their hands with as much latex as possible while still being able to move. Watson and Haurche also have leather belts that they'll wrap around their hands for further protection.
Haurchefant and Watson will be on circuit removal. They will be guided to the different circuits separately, coordinated by Peggy and Steve so they're not duplicating effort. Watson and Frisk will each carry a new circuit to their first destination with Frisk and Haurchefant heading out first as a team and then Watson heading out a little after to give them some lead time.
Haurche will remove the circuit with his fireplace poker and move onto the next while Leon directs Frisk on how to replace the new circuit. Leon has specialized knowledge here. Shiro will also be listening in. While they're doing this, Watson will remove a circuit with the wrench that Frisk lent him. Alfie will direct Frisk back to the table and to each removed circuit with Leon and Shiro taking turns to direct them (until Frisk gets it down themself). If Watson and Haurche finish before Frisk is done replacing circuits, they will have Peggy and Steve direct them to the table, then the remaining replacement circuits. Everyone will coordinate so that Watson and Haurche are not on top of each other or going to the same locations as Frisk. They will proceed to replace circuits until the job is complete with guidance from Shiro or Leon.
They will be taking their time to do all of this carefully as opposed to rushing through it. They don't want anyone hurt and they figure they have extra above their quota.

No one. (If this is an unacceptable answer they will choose the alternative of @robertmiller.)
It is a symbol for the Admin.
There were protests against a babysitter and a devastating plague.

"Between these two groups, if one has to fail, which would you rather fail?"
They have to choose first between residential zone one and residential zone two, second between residential zone one and downtown, and third between residential zone two and downtown.

Watson's response to the photos is a snort: "Do they? Reckon I shouldn't've made fun of Angel's jumper that one time." Haurchefant is similarly dismissive.
They'll choose the following:
Zone Two
Downtown

"Between these two groups, if one has to fail, which would you rather fail?"
Again they must choose three times: between their own group and residential zone one, between their own group and the ice tunnels, and between their own group and downtown.

After this, the wall dilates open to reveal the second half of the room: it's another maze. It seems they only have to get to the end this time. They can see, but the whole thing is a twisting labyrinth. Those outside watching their struggles have a bird's eye view. There's water on the ground. The room is slowly filling up with it.
Robert's voice speaks: "Two groups hate one of your members the most." A five-pound weight is attached to the ankles of Watson and Haurchefant. Nothing further happens.
They have the rest of the day to work their way through the maze before they drown. Results will be given when all groups finish. Good luck.
