Event: Consolidation Theory, Part Four

Consolidation Theory
The red-marked characters wake up on the morning of day 354 to themselves covered in bandages, sore and wounded, unable to remember the night before. If they look under the bandages, it looks like they got in some sort of physical fight, with fingernails having torn into the skin on their limbs and faces. There's food waiting for them, if they'd like to eat. It's the same as the food they got the day before. Eventually, they may notice others have joined them.

The newcomers to the cells are at least as broken and bandaged as those marked in red, if not more so. They don't seem constrained by the cell, instead perfectly able to walk right through the blue barriers as if they weren't there at all. Well, the ones who can walk right now can, at least. They have food as well that they may eat if they're willing and/or able. Unfortunately, they can't leave the cell block area, and they can't pull anyone stuck in a cell out of the cell--though they can enter the cells of others.

Robert Miller's voice comes in over the speaker: "The first attempt failed. You probably don't remember much of it, though, so don't worry about it."

For the morning, you're left to your own devices. Maybe you can learn something about what happened from the newcomers.

A log for part four has been put up here. Mind your content warnings.

IN GENERAL, asking to what degree the newcomers are appropriately treated for their injuries!

1. Have they been completely cleaned up?

2. Do they still have what remains of their clothes?

3. Do they have splints or casts to treat their broken bones, or only bandages?

4. Any kind of painkillers or other drugs that may affect them in the aftermath?

cw self harm/suicide

I'M SO SORRY FOR ASKING THIS but if one of the lined people either attempts suicide or ropes in an unlined person to help kill them, will anything happen to stop it?

do they take her away to deal with the damage, or does it happen in the cell? assume she's trying to smash her skull in on the bathroom furniture 8')

Would the separation entail anything extra if someone is "helping" without being asked?

cw vomiting, potential cannibalism?

[personal profile] warriorscribe 2018-04-25 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
So judging by the state of some of these characters I have to ask. Anything unusual in a marked person's vomit? (anything for Enoch specifically, too? idk if you guys actually have it planned out who did what to whom...)

were there empty cells yesterday or did new cells appear for new people?
sharktrash: (blank // calm)

[personal profile] sharktrash 2018-04-26 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Can the new people actually see the blue barriers, or does it look like the red-lined people are just sitting pretty in their cells for no reason to them?

Also, is the exit from the cell block area a simple locked door/gate, or is there some kind of barrier around it as well? Electronic locks? (Assuming someone tried to hit it, would anything happen...)

Follow up question: what does it look like when a marked character interacts with their barrier in a way that would be physically impossible if it wasn’t there? Like leaning on it or throwing themselves into it.

wtf that's so goddamn stupid I love it

Okay so can a marked character be trapped outside their cell if an unmarked one tackles them and pins them? What is that like from the marked one's perspective? Are they still stuck against the barrier inside their cell, how did it appear the unmarked character lunge at them from the front yet pin them from behind, and does their perspective ever correct itself?

[personal profile] warriorscribe 2018-04-30 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
So it would be more accurate to say that a character who lunged at another outside their cell appeared to slip past them into their cell and pin them against the barrier from in there?

And which version do the videos in part 5 show?

Oh, and from both perspectives, what forces the unmarked character off? Do the static people come and do that or is it just a compulsion?

1. Yes.

2. The videos show the version the character who "posted" the video saw.

3. Compulsion.

if a marked character watches a video from an unmarked character (or vice versa) would it show, to them, the cells as they see it or as the unmarked characters see it?

Ohmygod wait jumping in here with the perception stuff.

There was an earlier answer that if a marked character threw water at the force field it would splash back. If they threw their food at it would it be the same?

And how would that look? If an unmarked character saw it go through, would it just stay where they saw it land, because it's inanimate? Or would it eventually.. not be outside the cell anymore?

Or would their perception take away all the fun and show it thrown directly at the spot the marked character sees it land?

If they'd see the marked character walk out of their cell to retrieve it, instead, I'm going to cry.

1. It appears the same to the marked characters, while to the unmarked characters it appears to just land on the floor.

2. The marked character would retrieve it only if they were going to use it for something. Otherwise they just see it as inside the cell without having to retrieve it.

Oh my god.

Okay but do they seem chained up to the unmarked characters instead or are the chains only in the unmarked cells? Basically how cooperative with Miller do the marked characters look to others?

EDIT: additionally, if an unmarked character tries to push a marked one through the barrier, what happens? Does the unmarked character actually feel the other being stopped by an unseen obstacle, or would they go through both the barrier and the marked character?

For the red line people, are the symptoms experienced in Part 2 still in effect?

Do the red-lined characters still all have their bracelets on? And are the drug lists the same on all bracelets, or is it only anisomycin that they all have in common?
